Professor Mills giggled like a schoolgirl as he brushed away another layer of soil from what the farmer had thought to be a large piece of marble.
Marble, the idiot. No one could ever mistake bone for marble.
“Calm down Mills,” Professor Harris said. “You know it’s just a dinosaur or maybe a mastodon skull.”
“You never believed,” Mills said. “There were giants in the earth in those days. The ancients knew the truth and now I’ll prove it.”
More layers of soil revealed the eye sockets and finally the lower portions of a titanic human skull. The bug eyed expression Harris wore made Mills’ day.
“En el carro, rapido,” Mills shouted to the local laborers assisting him.
The men lifted the skull which was nearly three feet wide onto a wheelbarrow and lashed it firmly into place.
“I’m going to be famous,” Mills crowed.
“DEFILERS! DESPOILERS,” a voice like thunder blasted their ears.
A shadow fell across the men and they turned to see an enormous dark figure striding over the hill behind them.
One of the men began to scream as a hand as wide as his body reached down to grab him. He was not alone in screaming for long.
